    Some of the effects of global warming will be irreversible and others may last for at least 1,000 years, according to a new US government–sponsored report.
    The study, led by researchers at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and paid for by the Department of Energy, paints a depressing picture of the future caused by increased CO2 emissions.
